Senior VFX Artist (New Project)
We are hiring for a Senior VFX Artist to support the development of a new unannounced AAA project. You will be responsible for the creation, development, planning and prioritisation of our visual effects. You will be working in Unreal Engine 5, utilising Niagara and other new technologies. As a Senior member of the art team, you will also be responsible for supporting the learning and development of less experienced colleagues.
You have experience working as a VFX Artist within the games industry. You relish the challenge of working with new technologies to create cutting-edge art, and are as technically driven as you are aesthetically great. The role requires you to be able to multi-task and possess good communication skills both spoken and written.
This role is open to applications onsite in Stockholm, or remote in Europe.
Responsibilities:
Creating and implementing visual effects and pushing them beyond the industry standards using Unreal Engine 5 and Niagara;
Follow references, concepts, and art direction while also having the initiative to take the work further independently;
Working closely with the Art and Tech teams to ensure that quality is consistent and cohesive;
Working together with Producers, Leads, Directors and other teams to push the quality and creativity of the project;
Updating work and backlog using project management and planning tools (e.g. JIRA);
Mentoring, guiding and contributing to the learning and development of less experienced colleagues.
Requirements:
Working knowledge of Unreal Engine, its graphic pipeline, workflows, and best practices;
Experience creating visual effects in Niagara to create a wide range of VFX (fire, smoke, electricity, explosions, etc.);
Routine experience in creating, implementing, and optimizing visual effects for games on multiple platforms;
The ability to create all the textures, geometry, materials needed for the VFX;
Have a great eye for timing, animation and momentum of your effect;
Excellent communication skills in English.
Nice to have:
Experience shipping multiple AAA games as a VFX Artist;
Experience working with Unreal Engine 4 or 5;
Experience working with PBR;
Experience with Houdini by creating your own destruction, cloth, liquid and pyro simulations;
Experience with Embergen;
Scripting experience in Blueprints;
Traditional drawing skills for animated textures or conceptualizing;
Familiarity with scripting languages, VEX, HLSL or Python;
Experience of other game engines and particle systems.
