Gameplay Programmer Lead

Are you passionate about making great games and have prior experience working as a programmer on at least one shipped title? Then this might just be the right job for you! Starbreeze is now looking for a Gameplay Programmer Lead to join our PAYDAY team in Barcelona.

As a Gameplay Programmer Lead you are a crucial member of the gameplay programming team. You are an important help to the rest of the team and not afraid of taking on the more challenging tasks. You like working with many different aspects of a game. Be it player movement, weapon systems, sound implementation, network, support systems, game state machines, controllers and more.

You are a team player that embraces the idea of working together with designers to reach the goals set by production towards the creation of a high quality product. You are able to mentor junior GP programmers to realize their full potential and to the benefit of the game.

Job Tasks:

  • You follow through tasks and ensures they are implemented in the best way possible
  • When tasked you can foresee any production dependencies, be it art, sound, network etc, and are comfortable to communicate this to lead gameplay programmer.
  • Help with feedback on implemented code done by the gameplay programmer team
  • You have ownership for tasks delegated to you
  • You are the right hand of the lead gameplay programmer

You have at least 5 years of professional gameplay development. Preferably you have prior experience working as a gameplay programmer on at least two shipped mobile titles. You have experience with C# languages and are familiar with AI, physics, animation, client-server and gameplay code in general. You must be fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.

To be successful in this position you are:

  • Strong passion for games and an understanding of what makes fun gameplay
  • Experience with C# development and Unity
  • Knowledge about multiplayer games
  • Experience working on co-op games is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of performance profiling and debugging
  • Familiarity with Git and/or other version control systems
  • Experience in FPS game development
