Senior Network Programmer (Project Baxter)
We are hiring a Senior Network Programmer to join our Project Baxter team, currently in pre-production. This is a core role for the project and will ultimately be responsible for all things network related; including matchmaking, servers and backend. You will report into our Technical Director and collaborate closely with both our Engine and Gameplay Programming teams.
Project Baxter is a 4 player cooperative action game set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons®. Inspired by our love of tabletop RPGs and built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5, we will embrace cutting edge technology to create entertaining and emergent gameplay scenarios.
This role is available onsite in Stockholm or remote across France, Spain, Sweden and the UK.
Job Tasks:
Develop everything network related; matchmaking, dedicated server, backend;
Make sure network code is optimized both for CPU usage and network bandwidth;
Ownership of the code you write and the features that you are adding; bugs or design issues are addressed by you and/or communicated to your lead;
Ensure that any feature functions in multiplayer and be ready to help our Gameplay Programmers to fix any issues;
Responsible for delivering a great end-user experience together with the team;
Always looking to improve yourself as well as the code that you have written.
Must have:
Prior experience working as a Network Programmer for an online game;
Strong knowledge of performance profiling and debugging;
Strong C++;
A passion for and knowledge of multiplayer games;
Fluent in spoken and written English;
Team player willing to listen, help and learn.
Good to have:
Experience with Unreal Engine 4 or 5;
Experience with Perforce and Git.
