Experienced Animator (Project Baxter)
We are hiring an Experienced Animator to join our Project Baxter team. You will be responsible for developing high quality keyframe and motion capture gameplay animations with a focus on characters, both human and creature. You will play a crucial role in tying together gameplay, narrative and character performance.
As an Experienced member of our team, you will be primarily focused on task execution under minimal guidance and be able to adapt to meet different and changing situations. You will be able to take initiative and have a drive to take on more extensive responsibilities and support cross-discipline, as well as, on occasion, lead the work of small/feature teams.
Project Baxter is a cooperative urban crawl through a reactive Dungeons & Dragons®-world, inspired by our love of tabletop RPGs and utilizing procedural tools to enhance emergent gameplay in an endlessly replayable setting. Project Baxter is currently in development in Unreal Engine 5 and is set to launch on all major platforms in 2026.
Please note that this role must be based in Stockholm with Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday as set office days.
Responsibilities:
Create high quality keyframe and motion capture gameplay character animation for both humans and creatures, following the direction of our Animation Director and the project’s Lead Animator;
Implement and test your own work in Unreal Engine;
Collaborate with other crafts, including Design, Tech and Production, to proactively solve any potential animation related issues to deliver features on time;
Promote engaging new gameplay or presentation ideas through previs and/or prototyping, that spark discussions and help in the decision making process;
Estimate the time required to carry out your own tasks and manage time to meet deadlines;
Carry out all other related tasks.
Requirements:
Experience working as an Animator on at least 1 full AA+ game;
Experience creating third person keyframe and motion capture gameplay animation for a AA+ title, with a focus on characters and creatures;
Excellent understanding of animation principles;
Experience with Maya;
Experience implementing and testing your own work in engine;
Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills;
Excellent problem-solving skills with an emphasis on proactivity.
Desirables:
Experience across all stages of the game development cycle, from pre-production to post-launch;
Experience with MotionBuilder;
MoCap technology and process experience;
Practical knowledge of state machines and motion trees and a passion for cutting-edge animation technology;
Experience working with Unreal Engine 4 and/or 5.
Interview process:
30-minute introductory video call with a member of our Talent Acquisition team
60-minute video call with our Studio Animation Director and Technical Animator
If necessary, short animation test with a provided rig
60-minute onsite interview (for those that are local) or video call with our Lead Animator and a Senior Game Designer
